Groups
Renta groups workspace members into named sets that you attach to data models. A group does not change anyone's role. It lists people, and you grant a model to the list instead of adding every user one by one.
This page describes how to create a group on the Team members page, change its members, and use it on the Access tab of a data model.
Before you begin
Check the following before you create a group.
- Owner role.
Only workspace owners create, edit, and delete groups. Members can open the list and view a group. To check roles, see Team & Roles. - Accepted members.
A group holds only members who have joined the workspace. Invite the people first and wait until they accept.
Create a group
You need the owner role in the workspace.
In the left sidebar, click your profile at the bottom, and then click Teammates. The Team members tab of the workspace settings opens.

Scroll down to the Groups card. It lists every group in the workspace with its member count, creator, and creation date. Click Add group.

Complete the form in the Add group panel.
- Group name.
A short name that is unique inside the workspace. Up to 100 characters. - Description.
Optional. What the group is for. Up to 500 characters. - Members.
Select members from the list. The list shows only members who have joined the workspace. A selected member appears below the picker, and the cross next to the name removes them again.
Click Create group.

The group appears in the Groups card with its member count and your name as the creator.

Edit or delete a group
Click a group in the Groups card to open it. Owners see the Edit group panel. Members see the same fields in the read-only Group details panel.

- Change the name or the description.
Edit the fields at the top of the panel and click Save. - Add members.
Select them in the Members picker. Renta saves the list as a whole when you click Save. - Remove a member.
Click the cross next to the name, and then click Save. The person keeps their workspace access. - Delete the group.
Click Delete group at the bottom of the panel and confirm. Members keep their workspace access. The group is removed from every data model it was attached to.
Deleting a group cannot be undone. Members who could use a data model only through this group lose access to that model as soon as you confirm.
Grant a group access to a data model
Groups control who can describe and query a data model through AI agents and the Renta API. Owners always have access. Everyone else needs to be listed on the model's Access tab, either directly or through a group.

- In the left sidebar, click Data models and open the model.
- Open the Access tab.
- In the Groups card, click Add groups, select the group, and then click Add groups in the panel.
- Click Save changes.
Every member of the group can now use the model. The Users card on the same tab grants access to individual members without a group.
The Access tab is available for models with the AI agents only or AI agents & Reverse ETL scope. A model with the Reverse ETL only scope has no AI access to manage, so the tab reports that access is not available.
Limits
The following limits apply to groups in a workspace.
