Google Ads PMax Performance report
Renta pipeline templates create a Google Ads pipeline with a predefined report type and field set. You pick the template and the ad accounts, and Renta fills in the rest of the report configuration.
Google Ads has one template, PMax Performance report. It loads the daily statistics of Performance Max asset groups into a single table.
Overview
The PMax Performance report template creates one pipeline built on the Asset Group report type.
| Pipeline | Description |
|---|---|
PMax assetsgoogle_ads_* | Daily clicks, impressions, and cost of each Performance Max asset group, with the asset group status and the parent campaign. |
Asset groups exist only in Performance Max campaigns, so the table covers only those campaigns. Search, Display, Video, Shopping, and Smart campaigns do not appear in it. To load them, create a custom report with the Campaign or Ad Group report type.
Data schema
The pipeline writes a fixed set of columns. Their names repeat the Google Ads field names with an underscore in place of the dot.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| segments_date | The date of the statistics row. |
| asset_group_id | The ID of the asset group. |
| asset_group_name | The name of the asset group. Unique within a campaign. |
| asset_group_status | The status of the asset group: ENABLED, PAUSED, or REMOVED. |
| asset_group_primary_status | Whether the asset group is serving: ELIGIBLE, LIMITED, NOT_ELIGIBLE, PAUSED, PENDING, or REMOVED. |
| asset_group_primary_status_reasons | Why the asset group is not serving or serves with limits, such as ASSET_GROUP_UNDER_REVIEW or CAMPAIGN_PAUSED. Empty when the asset group serves without issues. |
| campaign_id | The ID of the Performance Max campaign the asset group belongs to. |
| campaign_name | The name of the campaign. |
| campaign_status | The status of the campaign: ENABLED, PAUSED, or REMOVED. |
| metrics_impressions | How many times the ads of the asset group were shown. |
| metrics_clicks | The number of clicks. |
| metrics_cost_micros | The cost of the asset group for the day, in micros of the account currency. |
| metrics_average_cost | The average amount paid per interaction, in micros of the account currency. |
Google Ads returns money in micros. Divide metrics_cost_micros and metrics_average_cost by 1,000,000 to get the amount in the account currency.
Default settings.
The pipeline is created with the Overwrite Period set to Without overwrite data: on every run Renta loads the days that have passed since the previous run and leaves earlier days untouched. Google Ads can restate the statistics of recent days. To reload those days on every run, pick a period in the Overwrite Period setting of the pipeline.
After the pipeline is created, you can open it in the pipeline settings and change the fields, the overwrite period, and the schedule.
Data relationships
The table has one row per asset group per day.
- Campaign totals.
Sum the metrics of the rows that sharecampaign_idandsegments_date. - Other Google Ads reports.
A custom report with theCampaignreport type joins to this table by thecampaign_idcolumn.
Table name format
The destination table gets a unix timestamp suffix, so repeated template runs do not collide: google_ads_{unix_timestamp}. The pipeline appears in the list as PMax assets.
Creating with template
Follow these steps on the settings screen of the Google Ads pipeline.

- Select Pre-built templates as the integration type.
- Choose the Ad accounts to extract data from.
- Select PMax Performance report in the Templates dropdown.
Set the date range and the schedule as usual.
After you click Create pipeline, the pipeline appears in the Pipelines section under the ETL tab.
The table has no account column. If you pick several ad accounts, their asset groups are told apart only by campaign_id. To keep the accounts separate, create the template once per account.
Template or custom report
A template is a quick start with a fixed table. A custom report gives you full control over the report type and the fields.
| Feature | Template | Custom report |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | One action creates the pipeline | Report type and fields are chosen by hand |
| Field selection | Fixed set of asset group attributes and metrics | Any fields of any Google Ads report type |
| Campaign types | Performance Max only | Depends on the report type |
| Use case | Standard Performance Max reporting | Custom data requirements |
