Connect Renta MCP to Claude
Claude connects to the Renta MCP Server as a custom connector. After you add the connector, Claude calls Renta tools from your chats on claude.ai and in the Claude desktop app. It manages tracking plans, configures sources, destinations, and pipelines, and queries your data models.
Before you begin
Check the following before you add the connector.
- A Renta account with a workspace.
During authorization, you select the workspace that Claude works with. - A Claude plan with custom connectors.
Custom connectors are available on the Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. The Free plan allows one custom connector. For details, see Anthropic's guide to custom connectors. - Owner access on Team and Enterprise plans.
An owner adds the connector in Organization settings > Connectors. After that, each member clicks Connect next to Renta and signs in with their own Renta account.
Add Renta to Claude as a custom connector
- In the Claude sidebar, click Customize.
- Open the Connectors tab.
- Click Add, then select Add custom connector.

- In the Name field, enter a name for the connector, such as
Renta. Claude shows this name in the connectors list. - In the MCP server URL field, enter
https://mcp.eu.renta.im/mcp. - Click Continue.

Claude checks the server and marks the options it found with the Detected label.
- Under Authentication, keep Sign in now selected.
- Under OAuth client, keep Register automatically selected.
- Leave Request headers empty and click Add.

Renta opens the Authorization request page. If you are not signed in to Renta, sign in first.
- In the Select workspace field, choose the workspace that Claude works with.
- Click Authorize.
If the page does not open, find Renta on the Yours tab of the connectors list and click Connect.

Open Customize > Connectors > Yours. Renta appears in the list with the Custom label and a check mark in the Status column.

Tool permissions
Permissions define whether Claude calls a Renta tool without asking, asks you first, or never calls it. To open them, click Renta in the connectors list.

Claude splits Renta tools into two groups: Read-only tools and Write/delete tools. Set a permission for the whole group (1) or for a single tool (2).
| Permission | What Claude does |
|---|---|
| Always allow | Calls the tool without asking. |
| Needs approval | Asks you to confirm each call. |
| Blocked | Does not call the tool. |
Tools in the Write/delete tools group create, change, and delete objects in your Renta workspace and start pipeline runs. To confirm each of these calls yourself, set the group to Needs approval.
Claude lists tools by display name. The following table maps each name to the tool identifier used in the Renta MCP overview.

| Semantic layer query | context_layer | Read-only tools |
| Customer 360 lookup | customer_360 | Read-only tools |

Use Renta in a chat
You turn connectors on and off for each chat. To check that Renta is on, follow these steps.
- Open a new chat and click + below the message field.
- Select Connectors.
- Make sure the Renta toggle is on.

Then ask Claude a question that needs your Renta workspace. For example:
-
List my ETL pipelines and show the status of the last run for each. -
Which events in my tracking plan had invalid hits over the last 7 days? -
Show the data models available in Context Layer.
If a tool is set to Needs approval, Claude asks you to confirm the call before it runs.
Switch the workspace or disconnect
Claude works with the workspace you selected during authorization. The connection covers one workspace at a time.
- Disconnect Renta.
Open Renta in Customize > Connectors > Yours and click Disconnect. - Switch to another workspace.
Disconnect Renta, click Connect, and select the other workspace on the Authorization request page.
